8th International Conference on Highly Frustrated Magnetism

HFM 2016 was held in Taipei, Taiwan. I also attended the brief school preceding the conference, held at the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It was great to have so many physicists in the field of frustrated magnets condensed in that very special spacetime interval, giving talks, presenting posters, having discussions.

Happily, I was able to make sense, at a broad level, of most of the research presented, and glimpsed several promising directions for future work. Was extremely lucky to pick up a poster prize, sponsored by the American Physical Society, for my work with John Chalker! Grateful also for the travel support provided by the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics.

Thanks to the conference organisers, my very first visit to Taiwan also included a nice tour of the National Palace Museum and a dinner at the restaurant on the 86th floor of Taipei 101.
