matchstick

head down

the gruff velocity
pushing aside daisies
tearing through a blaze
planting a row of discontent

bits of glass swimming in acrid smoke
sparking with the pinpoints
of sulphur

following fire
i head down this path with glass and smoke to bring you light
carving my name in a single stroke

to rise up
and swallow the air

and burn for a black length
until prometheus’s fingers let go
